  2. STATISTICS In the year 2006 from the ages of 15-18, 2782 babies were born in N.Z. Of those 2782 babies born 1523 of those babies were Maori. In the year 2009, 17,550 abortions were performed in N.Z. In one year alone more than 300 Maori girls under the age of 20 had abortions. Statistics N.Z
