Purpose of Mid Semester Modules • Provide a place for non-standard forms of elective courses. • Provide a place for real exposure to international business issues and cultures. • Broaden your frame of reference. • Shared intense experience. • Thorough comparison, understand more about your own culture and business practices.
Conduct Code • Earning Academic Credit • Professionalism extends beyond the company visits • Representing Emory to others • Participating in a group experience • Recognize that not all activities are what you might select if planning on your own • Consequences for poor behavior – being sent back to the US at your own expense
Examples of Unacceptable Behavior • Being disrespectful to faculty, staff, speakers or other students. • Not attending required sessions without an excused absence prior (ex. if you are sick). • Consistently being late. • Arguing about the schedule or timing. • Anything the trip leaders say is unacceptable. Keep in mind: Needs of the group come first. Not all plans can be altered easily. Demands do not work in the group trip format however, there is always room for suggestions and constructive feedback.
Passports • Must have a valid passport with 2 consecutive blank pages. • Must be valid for 6 months after return (August 2012). • Make copies of bio page and visa . • Leave one with person in the US, keep one with you, but separate from your passport. • Scan and save where you could access it if needed (dropbox, email, ISOS). • Give one copy to MBA Program Office.
Visas • We will send visa applications in groups. You will get an email with details (by country of citizenship). Documents due on November 7. • You must apply for a VISITOR visa. • Photos can be made at Emory ID Card office in B. Jones or CVS. • You may apply on your own directly or through an visa expediter. • We use CIBT.com. Emory account 37706. You pay with credit card for all services. • Keep in mind your travel in Nov., Dec., Jan when deciding when to apply.

Immunizations • You must have required immunizations to travel. • If you plan on traveling frequently, ask for a yellow card (usually comes with yellow fever vaccine). Use this to maintain your immunization record. • Emory’s student health will be able to provide what you need. Make an appointment now so you are all set. You must go at least 2 weeks prior to departure. Use OPUS to make your appointment. • Be sure to ask for Ciproprescription. It was free last year from Publix.
International SOS • Document with all the details will be sent to you. • Go to http://www.international.emory.edu/resources/index.html • Log in using OPUS ID. • Enter travel information. • Print copy and submit to MBA Program Office by February 1, 2012.
US Citizens – STEP • US Citizens can register with US government for Traveler Alert System. • Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country.STEP allows you to enter information about your upcoming trip abroad so that the Department of State can better assist you in an emergency. • STEP also allows Americans residing abroad to get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. • https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/
Module Waiver Form • Sign a memo required by Emory to travel. Turn in with copy of your passport and Deposit. • Beyond travel risk, I acknowledge that I have been advised: • A passport is required and must be valid for 6 months after travel date and must have blank pages. • A visa may be necessary for travel • Students not maintaining proper conduct as determined by the trip leader or Goizueta staff may be sent home at their own expense • To contact my health care provider to be sure my immunizations are up to date • A refund is not available if I cancel for any reason • To submit my personal and flight information on International SOS website and provide a copy to the MBA Program Office.

Budget • Budget is set by cost of trip, flight, visa costs, additional food costs, extra hotel night in case of weather issues • Budget is submitted to Financial Aid Office
Financial Aid • You may borrow the full amount of the budget. • You do not have to borrow the full amount if you do not want to. • If you are using Emory Alliance funding and it is your first loan, the minimum to borrow is $5000. • This will increase your degree budget by the amount. • Email your financial aid rep to get the application started.

Deposit (subject to slight changes) • Deposit is $500. • Due date is December 2, 2011. • Turn with copy of your passport and waiver form. • Cash or check (no credit cards). • Refundable if someone replaces you on the trip before the balance is due (January 27, 2012). • Promissory note is available with confirmation of financial aid pending.
Balance Due • Must pay Emory the balance due for the trip costs on January 27, 2012. • Not refundable (sorry!). • Cash or checks. No credit cards.
Cancellation Policy • Official policy: Deposit refundable before January 27 if someone takes your place. Balance not refundable. • We will refund if we can (for unforeseen uncontrollable reasons on your part such as medical issues). • Even if someone goes in your place, some costs may be additional because they are tied to names and/or gender (plane tickets, roommates, fees, etc.). • We pre-pay as much as possible – so often no refunds are available in country. • Remember trip insurance is an option!
