TRIGLAV • Triglav is the highest mountain in Slovenia and the highest peak of the Julian Alps. While its name, meaning three-headed, can describe its shape as seen from the Bohinj area, the mountain was most probably named after the Slavic god Triglav. LIPICANEC • The Lipizzan breed dates back to the 16th century, when it was developed with the support of the Habsburg nobility. The breed takes its name from one of the earliest stud farms established, located near the Kras village of Lipica in Slovenia. • The Lipica Stud Farm is the cradle of all Lipizzaner horses in the world. Nowadays it is one of the most beautiful cultural and historical monuments of the Republic of Slovenia, its rich history reaching back to the year of 1580.
