  3. Theseus • Important Event:The myths of Theseus appear to preserve a fair amount of historical memory. The most popular being Theseus & The Minotaur • Symbol: The Labyrinth and club he used when he slayed the Minotaur • Identification or description: An Athenian Hero, Mostly known for slaying the Minotaur in the Labyrinth

  4. Powers: ·Theseus, being a demigod, had superhuman strength and agility/reflexes, usually displayed in battle. He was also a skilled fighter. • Weaknesses:He was 1/2 man (he could die). • Allusions: Theseus was alluded in The Hunger Games as Katniss and Peeta resemble Ariadne and Theseus. In Harry Potter, Harry didn't know he was a wizard until later just like Theseus didn't know he was the King’s son until later.

  6. The Minotaur • Important Event: The Classic Myth of Theseus and The Minotaur • Symbol: The Labyrinth And/Or a Shield • Identification or description:Well known as being the protector of The Labyrinth.

  7. The Minotaur • Powers: He had superhuman strength and agility/reflexes. He was also a half bull, coming with strength. • Weaknesses:He was half a man as well (he could die). • Allusion: In The Hunger Games the Minotaur was alluded to the idea of society.

  10. Ariadne • Important Event: One most famous event that she is known for is giving guidance to Theseus. She helped him escape the Labyrinth, the maze Theseus chose to be in, and kill the Minotaur but Ariadne made him promise that he will take her with him to Athens and marry her. Later on after Theseus accomplished his mission, he took Ariadne but he abandoned her on the island of Naxos, where Theseus, his men, and Ariadne rested for a while. • Symbol:Labyrinth • Identification or description: Ariadne is most known as “Lady of the Labyrinth”. Some say that after she died, Dionysos went to Hades’ Underworld and had her reborn into immortality. She is also symbolized as a sign of love.

  11. Ariadne • Powers: She knew the Labyrinth very well and her father was the King who built it so she could easily find out how to kill the Minotaur and to get out of the Labyrinth. • Weaknesses: She fell so deeply in love with Theseus that she didn't realize that he was playing her.

  12. Ariadne • Allusions: Ariadne alluded to the main character of the movie, Inception, as their story consists of puzzle solving, mazes, and a few other things that connected with Ariadne’s life. There is a song named “Ariadne’s Thread” and it references to Ariadne and the thread she gave Theseus. In The Hunger Games, Peeta alludes to Ariadne in a way as he helps Katniss.

Centaurs • Lineage: Pirithous’, the King of the Lapithae, first bride was related to the Centaurs. • Symbol: Fist = strength and fierce • Power: They have extra strength since they’re half horse/man. Swifter than mortals.Chiron because he was the wisest centaur. • Weaknesses: Still mortal so can be killed. Chiron had goodness in him and being a Centaur himself could be a weakness to Centaurs.

  14. Centaurs • Identification or description:Centaurs are savage creatures, they are half bull and half man but most behave more like a beast than a man. They aren’t mortal but aren’t immortal either except for Chiron, who was immortal. • Important Event: While at the wedding of the King of the Lapithae, the Centaurs, who happened to be related to the bride, proceeded to get drunk and try to seize women, Theseus, who was at the wedding, attacked and a terrible battle rung out which eventually led the Centaurs out of the country. • Allusions: Centaurs often are alluded in pop culture. Such as in films, poems, etc. The song “Ride a Rock Horse” be Roger Daltrey (The Who), described the Centaurs and their nature.
