Superlative Adjectives • Superlative adjectives are used to compare three or more people, places, things, or groups. • Add estto most short adjectives to make their superlative forms. • Use most longer adjectives.
Examples • Adjective Comparative Superlative • great greater greatest • enormous more enormous most enormous
Irregular Comparative and Superlative Forms • Good and bad example • good better best • bad worse worst
Rule • Never use more or most with erand est. • No: more sillier, most ancientest • Yes: sillier, most ancient
Comparative Adjective Example • Colin is faster than Christian. • Faster is the adjective comparing Colin and Christian.
Comparative Adjective Example • Which one is the younger sister? • Younger is the adjective comparing the two sisters.
Superlative Adjective Example • They are the cutest class in the school. • Cutest is the adjecitve comparing all the classes in the school.
