  7. definitions • Diocese: The Diocese is us, all of the Episcopalians living and worshiping in Western Oregon • Mission: the primary reason the diocese should exist • Values: how we live together in community • Vision: where we are going together

  10. Mission statement Celebrating God’s unconditional love as we serve the world in Jesus’ name.

  11. Core values: love • Loving one another and the world as God in Christ loves us. • Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God. – 1 John 4:7

  12. Core values: worship • Rejoicing together in God through beautiful ritual, ancient practices, and evolving traditions. • Let us be thankful, and so worship God with reverence and awe. – Hebrews 12:28b

  13. Core values: justice • Admitting our failures, we seek God’s justice, restoration, and peace. • What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? – Micah 6:8

  14. Core values: community • Embracing all people in common life, breaking bread together, and living as Christ’s body in the world. • In Christ there is neither Greek nor Jew, slave nor free, male nor female; for all are one in Christ. -Galatians 3:28

  15. Vision components • In a state steeped in independence, • We will cooperate with one another across our congregations and communities, supporting our mutual work alongside God, who is active all around us.

  26. Analysis • Looked at – Real estate, Sunday attendance, population, parish location. Some information from: • Parish locations – Primarily 2 corridors • Population center – Between Milwaukie and Lake Oswego • Center of parishes – 50% north and south of Salem • Metro area growth – Greatest growth in Washington County, Multnomah still largest
