  3. Introduction • A Pathfinder is a tool to organize resources for a topic. • Pathfinders help direct students to find information that is relevant to the topic they are researching or that is being taught. • Pathfinders can easily be updated to account for changes in the resources available.

  4. Suggested Content • Introduction to the Topic • Dewy Decimal Numbers • Keywords and phrases • Print resources - Books, Periodicals • Non-print resources - Video, CD • Internet resources - Web sites, Searches • Community resources • Standards

  10. Promoting Use • As an assignment • Tell parents about it • Notes home (ex: planner) • Newsletter • Conferences • Curriculum night • Share with colleagues • Tell your Administrators!

  11. Recap • Pathfinders are a great way to guide student research • Encourage parental involvement by giving parents a tool to help work with their child • Help build the home school connection by providing a medium to share • Using 21st Century Skills in the classroom
