Which one is your Reality? • Oh! Its Monday Again. • Arre, Its just 3 Yet? • Nothing can happen of JRE [Low employee morale] • He is Bossy. “Let’s change the way!” • I should not be here • When I change? 1. It’s a New World, It’s a New Day, It’s My World, Its my day! 2. Hello! Its 530. 3. Its not concrete, but HR makes it JRE 4. He is savior [Inspiring] 5. I take pride being here 6. I would never chnage
Signs of Negative Work Environment • Hierarchy is not maintained in admin. But it is maintained beyond Administration as well. • Unfriendly peers [Sr/Jr, 4Grade/3Grade, Guard/Gardener]: treat like a ‘sub human’ • ‘On Moon’ presence of Bosses • Employees are unnecessary critical [ Destructive Criticism;] • Back biting [Its really Interesting; Sparse time & Corrupt minds] • Discouragement [‘work to work’] • Unhappy Faces, Tense environment.
Signs of Positive Work Environment • Happy faces, “hello”, “hi”, “good morning”, “how are you are overheard”. Feel welcomed! • Hierarchy is limited to Administration only. • Friendly and Approachable Bosses • Employees suggest constructive criticism • Appreciate the ideas.[Encouragement is food for Motivation to work]. • People take it as their OWN establishment
Creating Positive Work Environment • Golden Principle: Treat people not as they are but as ‘what they could be’, and they soon would be one like you wanted
1. State your expectation ■ Communicating expectations clearly [I am not supposed to…] ■ Having a specific job description [Is it my work…] ■ Identifying specific performance standards [I mean…] ■ Specifying deadlines [I thought….] ■ Setting goals
2. Show Interest, Do not Ignore 1. Making eye contact and smile [curve – straight] 2. Calling you by name [Mr. … Oye, Region, Caste, Body, Position] 3. Asking your opinion 4. Complimenting your work 5. Following your suggestions This Leads to Positive atmosphere of confidence, encouragement, motivation and dedication • Not knowing your name or not using it • Not asking your opinion, Ignoring your suggestions, and YOU • Not commenting on your work • Following your suggestions, but only when heard from someone else This lead to angry, striped self esteem, less confidant, and ‘maintain staus quo’ atmosphere
3. Encouraging Environment • Where ideas are valued and Creativity is encouraged • Controlled Risks are encouraged • Fun and laughter are valued • New ideas are rewarded • You feel appreciated • Every one thank for every one contributions • Flexibility is valued • You feel like part of the team
4. Recognize and reward Good Performances • Compliments, Smiles and thumbs-up gesture • Saying “Thank you” • Giving a public announcement of your achievement • Placing a positive letter in your personnel file • Awarding a special parking space • Promotion to first choice on schedule • Placing picture on the bulletin board • Recognizing with applause at a meeting
