When is peers training required? • PEERRS certification may be required for participation on a study or project team, depending on: • your role (e.g., Principal Investigator), • the funding source (e.g., NIH), • and/or the type of research (e.g., human subjects) Your PEERRS certification status is verified by the applicable U-M administrative office (i.e., ORSP, IRB, UCUCA) when you are listed as: • An investigator on a project proposal (PAF) • A study team member on a human subjects application (HUM) • The PI or personnel on an animal application/protocol
What if I have received human subjects training somewhere else? You can request a waiver if you have completed CITI training
PEERRS certification process If other members of your study team are not affiliated with UM and need training they can request a “friends” account in PEERRS.
