Installation & Handling Fixtures Status • Corner Block Adaptors • Purpose • Moves corner block rigging connection in Z direction to more convenient location. Installation & Handling Fixtures Status • Flux Bar Handling Fixture • Purpose • Used to remove and reinstall the flux bars that are located behind the corner blocks. The flux bars must be removed to access layer 18. Installation & Handling Fixtures Status • Forward End Plug Handling Fixture & Spreader • Purpose • Used to remove and reinstall the FWD end plug halves in the FWD end doors. Installation & Handling Fixtures Status • Forward End Plug Receivers • Purpose • There are one each of a R.H. & L.H. receiver. These receivers support the FWD end plug halves in their normally installed orientation to allow the end plug handling fixture to be removed. Installation & Handling Fixtures Status • EMC Load Transfer Fixture • Purpose • Transfers EMC gravitational load to flux return upper earthquake support beams to allow removal of FWD mid corner plates. Installation & Handling Fixtures Status • Installation Platforms & Positioners • Purpose • These devices are used to position fixtures and personnel in the proper orientation and elevation relative to the flux return steel. There are three basic devices: a vertical elevating platform, a horizontal angled positioner, and a device that will pull existing RPCs from their corresponding barrel slots. Conclusions & Comments • Barrel RPC removal, brass and LST installation require the development of several handling and installation fixtures. • The LST installation equipment is not included in this presentation. (See Bill Sands talk) • The design and fabrication of these fixtures are on schedule for the 2004 down. • Our goal is to have these fixtures available as early as possible to take advantage of any potential schedule advancement.
