  1. Importance of Tags for On-Page SEO SEO is a powerful way to improve your website's visibility on search engines. In practice, SEO is classified into either ‘on-page’or ‘off-page’. On-page SEO refers to parts of a website that improve your web presence on search engines, and includes aspects such as title tags, meta descriptions, alt tags, headings and website content. You can't improve your web presence without some on-page SEO. In this article, you'll get to know the importance of tags and related aspects for your on-page SEO. Title Tags: A title tag demonstrates the actual title of a page in the source code of a website. Title tags are considered as one of the important factors of on-page SEO. These tags are used by search engine crawlers to determine a web page's topic and are shown in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). Meta Description: A meta description provides a brief description of a web page and is shown under the page’s title in SERPs. It is recommended to keep your meta description around 155-

  2. 160 characters. Including the web page's main keywords in the description will help it to rank better in search results. Heading Tags: Heading tags play a vital role in structuring content for both SEO and user experience. It’s important to add one H1 tag at the beginning of each page. Keep in mind that search engines pick keywords from website content, titles and heading tags to understand the context of a web page. So, it is important to add heading tags in descending order (i.e. H1, H2, H3 ... through to H6 if that many is needed) and avoid irrelevant keywords when naming your headings. Alt Tags: Alt tags refer to descriptions that you write for the images you put on a page. These descriptions give a basic idea of what image entails to search engine crawlers. When you add an image to your website, it should be saved with a focus keyword. For instance, if your image is regarding a blue coat for women, then it is advised you save that file as something like "women- coat-blue.jpg" instead of a default name eg. "image_0080.jpg". Content of the Web Page: Relevant website content is the most important factor for on-page SEO. If you implement all the above factors but fail to optimise website content, it will struggle to rank in search engines, if it manages to at all. So, you need to take time to add relevant content to each and every web page as doing so will help you get consistent traffic from search engines. It is imperative to note that incorrect implementation of SEO tags can lead to big difficulties. You need to use these tags correctly to get the most out of your website as these are imperative steps to boosting your search engine rankings. You’ll be one step closer to improving your website’s visibility if you implement the above techniques correctly.
