What is Scratch? • Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web. (IT’S FREE!!) • As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
How Can Teachers Use it? • Scratch can be used in a variety of ways including: an anticipatory set to introduce a new topic, during instruction to test the students knowledge on a topic, as a culminating activity where they can create their own scratch program, or as a study guide to help prepare students for an assessment.
Negatives for Scratch • User friendly in the context of searching already made scratch projects, however very difficult for creating your own scratch project. • Creating your own- Very time consuming, and challenging. (We do not understand!)
