  2. SPANS Provides All Internet Users With The Ability To Find Where And When Important Safety Meetings & Events Are Occurring. Users Who Register With The SPANS May Elect To Receive Email Reminders Of Events That Occur In Areas They Define.

  4. Initial Welcome Screen

  5. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

  6. Enter Your Email Address Then Click Next.

  7. Enter First / Last Name Enter Your Home ZIP CODE Check All That Apply To You Or That You Want Information About, Then Click NEXT.

  8. Initial Confirmation Screen If You Have SPAM Blocking Software Active, You May Not Receive Your Computer Generated Password.

  9. Logging Into The SPANS & Changing Your Computer Assigned Password

  10. Enter Your Email Address & Computer Assigned Password. Click Login Now pilot@faasafety.gov A23CPT7* SPANS Will Recognize The Assigned Password And Will Take You To The Change Password Page. Change It To One That You Like.

  11. Enter The Password You Wish To Use, Then ClickCONTINUE.

  12. Menu Of Available User Options Your Name Should Appear Here. The First Step - Reset Your PREFERENCES CLICK PREFERENCES Safety Meeting Information That Matches Default Search Parameters – Within A 50 Mile Radius Of Your ZIP CODE.

  13. Set The Radius To Whatever Distance You Are Willing To Drive Or Fly To Attend Safety Presentations. Two (2) Additional ZIP Codes / Radius Options Can Be Used For Additional Notification. No Need To Fill In Anything Here Unless You Want To Setup Additional ZIP CODES For Notification Of Safety Events In Those Areas. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Check Only Your Areas Of Interest. The System Defaults To Sending You Everything!

  14. Familiarize Yourself With The Icon Legend. Events That Match Your Preferences.

  15. Click The Underlined Event Name Or The Globe Icon To See Details.

  16. Click To View Map Of The Seminar Location. Click To Register For The Event.

  17. If Listed - Downloadable Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Documents That Support This Event.

  18. To Receive An Email Reminder For This Event. Click CONTINUE To Register Your Name & Email Address For This Event.

  20. Select EVENT SEARCH To Redefine The Search Area / Radius For Other Locations (Zip Codes).

  21. The EVENT SEARCH Page Allows Precise Search Criteria To Be Entered.

  24. Send Request For Specific Safety Seminar Topics To Your SPM.

  25. What If I Don’t Register? What Can I Do?

  26. Unregistered Users May Search The SPANS For Safety Program Events. The Same Search Page Format Appears To Registered & Unregistered Users. Simply Click On EVENT SEARCH To Begin The Process.

  27. Enter Precise Search Criteria – ZIP, STATE, AIRPORT 4 LETTER ID, KEYWORD – Press SEARCH.

  28. Events That Match The ZIP CODE & RADIUS Parameters.

  29. Registration Is Important: If You Don’t Register, You Can Search For Safety Meeting Events But You Won’t Receive Email Event Notifications!

  30. Summary • SPANS provides airmen with safety information in an efficient and cost effective manner. • Provides easy access to safety seminar details & event locations. • Provides a simplified event registration process.

  31. Summary • Provides a path for airmen to send feedback to the local SPM. • Unregistered users must manually search for events. • Registered users receive event notifications by email.

  32. Summary • Airmen without internet capability will continue to receive paper seminar announcements for a short time-1 to 2 years. • Keep your email address Updated.

  33. Summary • If your ISP uses spam blocking software, make sure you “allow” faasafety.gov messages to pass through to you. • All users of the SPANS can search for safety events occurring in any valid Zip Code.
