BHC – Building Healthy CommunitiesFinal Conference - Bruxelles, 7th June 2011 “National Association of Virtuous Municipalities”an Italian network on quality initiatives for cities and citizens Gianluca Fioretti President of the Association; Mayor of Monsano - Italy
National Association of Virtuous Municipalities It’s a network of Local Authorities working for a good and sustainable management of the territories and raising public awareness on Sustainability enacting bestpractices able to generate new recourses and processes regarding new tecnologies, new ways of life and the active participation of citizens
National Association of Virtuous Municipalities Our conviction is that we have to work to protect the Environment, improve the Quality of Life of the citizens and preserve all the Common goods. This has to become more than a slogan! Our Municipalities agreed with the fact that the current model of development is no longer sustainable and we can take another direction
National Association of Virtuous Municipalities • We put at anyone disposal a “TANK OF GOOD PRACTICES” to share the know-how to enact projects • Several municipalities are not able to transform ideas into concrete projects or administrative actions due to a lack of means, time, and know-how. • For that reasons many ambitious projects fail • Hence, the association provides deliberations, • specifications, laws and all that is needed to support the realization of concrete actions
“A virtuous municipality loves its territory and cares for its citizens’ health, future and happiness. A virtuous municipality enacts all the necessary measures in order to spread new awareness and to meet new needs in terms of environmental, urban and social sustainability”. (From the Manifesto of the Association)
