Counterarguments • A statement (or, in this case, questioning) that addresses the other side of an argument. • Counterarguments acknowledge that there IS another side to an argument, but that it is a weaker side. • To effectively compose a counterargument, you need to anticipate what your opponent will say in support of his or her hero. • After they present their support, you will present a counterargument and then have one minute to question the opposition’s argument.
Rebuttals • A rebuttal is a refutation or dismissal of an opposing argument • A strong rebuttal will allow you to recover your argument from an ‘attack’ • After your team has been questioned, you will have one minute to deliver a rebuttal.
