  4. U.S. Length • Basic unit is the foot 1 ft = 12 in 1 yd = 3 ft 1 mi = 5280 ft

  5. Metric-U.S. Equivalents 1 in = 2.54 cm 1 mi = 1.61 km 1 cm = 0.394 in

  6. Conversion Factor • Conversion factor – an expression used to change from one unit or set of units to another. • Derived from equivalent measures • Equal to 1
