  2. Semiotic analysis: • How do the stories you found use language/images to create a moral panic? • Extension: • Can you find evidence of the creation of moral panics in the papers today?

  3. Examples of moral panic • Using your booklet select one moral panic to add to your notes. • What? • When? • Reaction?

  4. How do moral panics happen? • In pairs make notes/posterize one section of p164/165. • Point of the section. • Sociologist • Evidence • Key dates/news coverage • When the time is up team up to share your notes with other groups.

  5. Make a judgement • Which is the most important cause of moral panics, and why? • Line up the posters across the room to show your judgement. Attach post-its to the posters to show your reasoning.

  6. HW • Do the “check your understanding” box on page 165.
