  2. Formative study results • Assignment deadline moved back one week (11/21) • Time to consider feedback, handle emergencies • Paper draft still due 11/28, don’t wait to start it

Formative study write-up • 2-3 pages, single spaced • Sections (continued on next slide): • Background: 2-4 sentences on background/motivation for your study • Participants: 2-4 sentences: how many, age, gender, how recruited • Procedure: 3-4 sentences on what you did, where study was conducted, etc.

  4. Write-up (2) • Findings: The rest. Organize what you found by themes/trends in your data. Be specific. Use quotes, photos (if you have them), counts of participants • Implications: 3-4 sentences on how your results will influence future work

  5. Formative study talk • 2 minutes or less • Give us a BRIEF introduction to what you did • Spend the rest of the time telling us about themes, interesting highlights • If you have slides, send them to Shaun by noon on Sunday (11/20)

  6. Next assignment: Paper draft • Due 11/28, up to 5 pages • Should be a well-written, solid draft • Use ACM format and references • Follow CHI papers we’ve seen

  7. Paper draft sections • Introduction • Related work • User study (subsections: participants, procedure) • Results • Discussion (of results) • Future work • Conclusion
