  1. Mod 3 – Assortment Planning by Price and Month • To calculate planned purchases (open to buy “$”) for men’s dress shirts by: • Class (10, 20, 30, 40) • Month in selling season (Aug. to Jan.) • At cost and retail • Price point (regular, promotional, reserves)

  2. Steps to complete Mod 3 (p.48 & 49) • C10: total OTB units 20_X (LY) D10: total OTB units 20_Y (TY) • Complete the table on page 48 in manual. (Use page 39 to gather information.)

  3. Open to Buy 20_Y

  4. Steps to complete Mod 3 3. Enter formulas in Col. C & D Ex: C18=C10*.18 D18=D10*.155 • Enter % allocation for each class (get from Mod 2, column U) (G4, L4, Q4, V4) • Estimate the % of merchandise each month to allocate for the 3 price points.(Use p.40 to complete p.50 worksheet.)

  5. Steps to complete Mod 3 6. Develop formulas which will allocate OTB $$ by class, month, cost/retail and price points. • Each formula will have 4 components: % allocation for each class # units for each month price (Retail and Cost) % allocation by price (Reg., Pro., Res.)

  6. Steps - Mod 3, F19 (class 10, Aug., retail, regular) Class%units/mo.R/Cprice pt. G$4 * $d$18 * F$7 * .56 Row (4)remains row & column same, column remain same changes

  7. Steps - Mod 3, F20 (class 10, Aug., cost, regular) Class%units/mo.R/Cprice pt. G$4 $d$18 F$10 .56 Only price (R/C) changes. Cell F20 is for COST, but we are still in Class 10 and still in August and still in Regular Price point

  8. Steps - Mod 3, F22 (class 10, Sep., retail, regular) Class%units/mo.R/Cprice pt. G$4 $d$21 F$7 .65 Units/month changes because we are in September, but F22 is a Retail row, so F changes back to F$7, and we must enter a new price point % because of September.

  9. Steps - Mod 3 – G19 (class 10, Aug., retail, promo.) Class%units/mo.R/Cprice pt. G$4 $d$18G$7 .27 Units change to $d$18 because we are back in August, R/C changes because we have a new $price pt. The price pt. % is also new.

  10. Assignment • Mod 3 spreadsheet • Mod 3 price changed spreadsheet • Decrease $1 from retail, reserves for all classes • Decrease $.45 from cost, reserves for all classes • Mod 3 formula sheet (CTRL +E) • Typewritten answers for mod 3 questions
