The National Agricultural Research Institute - INIA • Created in 1989 by law as a public non-governmental organization. • INIA is the major organization in Uruguay related to agricultural technology. • Previously, agricultural research was within the structure of the Uruguayan government since 1914.

National Agricultural Research Institute INSTRUMENTS OF INSTITUTIONAL POLICY • Integrate farmers, through the Regional Advisory Committees, to a continuous process of planning, monitoring and evaluation of Projects and Programs (P, M + E). • Permanent training of Human Resources in search of excellence. Evaluation through results. • Project prioritization by its strategic relevance for the country and an assessment of its impact at the farmers level. • Alliances with national and international organizations of notorious excellency with the aim of strengthening INIA´s capacity for innovation. • Project development in teams under a multidisciplinary approach.
