  2. Donor Education • What is blood? • Use of donated blood products • Who can donate? Volunteers Only • Questions about eligibility • Blood types • Blood safety • Baby blood • Prior to donation: Hydrate and eat a good meal

  3. Registration Find a Donor Center near you • Photo ID • Age • Must weigh 110 lbs • Fill out donor card for eligibility

  4. Confidential medical screening Review of questionnaire : • Medical History • Travel Eligible ? Deferred • Vitals Eligible? Deferred Yes =Donation time

  5. Blood draw • Acceptable vein? • Arm scrub • Labeling of blood bag • Fun begins Needle stick • Blood draw no long than 15 minutes • Donation completed. 1 pint = 2 cups • Prior to standing take a minute

  6. After donation relaxation • SNACK TIME • Hangout at least 10 min • Drink plenty of fluids • No exercise • No heavy lifting • Cold/flu symptoms? CALL. • Feeling good? Good to go • DONATE AGAIN
