How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God! Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. Psalm 84:1-2,10a. We stand and lift up our hands for the joy of the Lord

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now I’m found Was blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free My God, my Savior’s ransomed me And like a flood, His mercy reigns Unending love, amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me His word my hope secures He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free My God, my Savior’s ransomed me And like a flood, His mercy reigns Unending love, amazing grace
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow The sun forbear to shine But God, who called me here below Will be forever mine Will be forever mine You are forever mine
FAMILY MY TENT Psalm 91:10
Psalm 91:10 – No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. (NASB) • The British General & the glass of wine • His story is an excellent example of how our lives are intertwined with each other. • What we do and say, or for that matter, what we don’t do or say, directly affects those around us, especially our families. • And, in context of what we are speaking about today, our prayers can deeply affect our families. • Some feel that they can live their lives how they want. • They say they’re only hurting themselves, but nothing could be further from the truth.
You can impact your families in 1 or 2 ways: positive or negative. • The choice is yours. • As Joshua so eloquently said, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! (Joshua 24:15) • Let’s purpose to be a positive influence. People are watching! • Today, we are going to look at how our prayers can directly impact the lives of our loved ones. • If you are worried about bad things happening to the unsaved members of your family, then today’s message is for you!
Psalm 91:1-9 – 1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. 3 For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. 7 A thousand may fall at your sideand ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you. 8 You will only look on with your eyesand see the recompense of the wicked. 9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place.
So far we have learned 8 things from Psalm 91: • He who dwells in the Secret Place • I will say . . . • These 2 points are the conditions that we must meet in order to release the protective power that is found in the rest of the Psalm. 3. I will deliver you • from the trap of the trapper • from deadly pestilence 4. Under the protective wings of a mother hen you can seek refuge 5. His faithfulness is our shield [invisible] and bulwark [discernment].
6. Do not be afraid of . . . • Terror of what man can do to you • Arrows—intentional attacks • Pestilence—sickness, air borne diseases and contaminated water • Destruction—natural disasters 7. A thousand may fall . . . but you will only look on with your eyes . . . 8. Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—the condition.
The Lord thought of everything in promising us protection. • Psalm 91 is a preventative measure that God has made available to believers against every evil known to man. • Nowhere else in Scripture are all the protective promises found in one place to offer total protection for living in this world.
10 No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. (NASB) • Focus: Your Tent • That is your house and more specifically your family. • This is where God promises to protect you and your family from plagues and evil. • Another way of saying this is No plague will come near my family—My Family Tent.
During WW II, Seadrift, TX, caught hold of this truth. • During the war, the town decided to pray Psalm 91 daily over every man who went to war. • Bulletin Board • 24/7 Prayer • Every family had at least 1 member at war. • Seadrift did not experience one single casualty from the war. • The same can be true for you and your family! • You can literally bring your entire family under the shield of God’s Word.
Some of you have unsaved children and grandchildren, and you are very concerned about them. • You can begin to insert their names as you pray Psalm 91 over them, and God will honor your prayers to protect them. • He will honor your faith for your children. • Now, that is not to say that they will be saved because of your faith, but this is a start. • You can also pray that God will bring laborers into their harvest field to share Jesus with them. • And, pray for that their eyes will be opened to see the truth of the Gospel.
When Paul and Silas were thrown into the Philippian Jail, what did they do? • Did they complain or feel sorry for themselves? • No, they began to sing praises to the Lord. • What happened next? • The prison shook, the chains fell off all the prisoners and the prison doors opened. • Paul & Silas knew the secret of praise & worship. • They lifted their voices up to God despite their circumstance and began to praise God!
This created an atmosphere where God could easily work and perform a miracle of deliverance. • Perhaps the greatest miracle happened next: no one left! • Why? • I believe it was because the Presence of God was so strong that no one wanted to leave! • The jailer didn’t know this though. • He assumed that all the prisoners had escaped. • Look what happened next:
Acts 16:27-32 – 27 The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. 28 But Paul shouted to him, "Stop! Don't kill yourself! We are all here!"29 The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household." 32 And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household.
Because you have to interpret Scripture with other Scriptures, this does not mean that your unsaved family members will be saved because you are. • It does mean that you can stand on this promise and believe God for your family to come to Jesus. • Each member must accept Jesus on their own, but this is a promise that we can confess and stand on!
There are 2 things you need to do when praying for your unsaved loved ones. 1. Be Specific in your Prayers – When most people pray, they say something like this: Lord, please be with Johnny in a special way. • Think about that prayer for a moment. • If you had a babysitter for your small children, would you say that to them? • Babysitter, please be with little Johnny in a special way. • No!! You would say, His bedtime is 9:00 PM sharp. He needs a bath before he goes to bed, and you may give him a snack. But, it needs to be a non-sugar snack. Here is our cell phone numbers in case you need us. • You would be VERY specific. • Why would you not be that way when you pray for them?
Rule of Thumb: Vague requests get vague answers. And, specific requests get specific answers. 2. Pray Scripture – Why? Jeremiah 1:12 – Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it. (AMP) • God watches over His Word to perform it! • There is great power when we pray the Word. • Take these following verses and begin to confess them out loud over your unsaved family members.
Acts 16:31 – They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household. • Psalm 91:10 – No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. • Be sure to personalize these verses. • Example: Nor will any plague come near my daughter Isabella! • 2 Timothy 2:26 – Then they {name} will come to their senses and escape from the devil's trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
