Adding able to words ending in e • Sometimes when you add the suffix –able to words that end in e you drop the e before adding –able. • Usually when words end in ce or ge you do not drop the e when adding –able. • This occurs because if a word ends in ce or ge dropping the e would change the pronunciation of the word. It would change the soft c and g into hard consonant sounds.

  4. Desirable • worth having or wanting; pleasing, excellent, or fine • The new car is very desirable indeed!!

  5. Reusable • To be able to use again • Have you gotten your reusable shopping bags yet?

  6. Lovable • of such a nature as to attract love • Puppies are so lovable!

  7. Comparable • capable of being compared • I think Target’s prices are comparable to Wal-Mart.

  8. Excusable • pardon or forgive; overlook • I guess if your dog really ate your homework it would be excusable.

  9. Consumable • able or meant to be consumed, as by eating, drinking, or using • Fruit is a very delicious and consumable food.

  10. Pleasurable • such as to give pleasure; enjoyable; agreeable; pleasant • Sitting by the fire on a cold winter’s night is a very pleasurable experience.

  11. Believable • to have confidence or faith in the truth of • If I had not seen the turtle with my own eyes it would not have been very believable.

  12. Disposable • designed for or capable of being thrown away after being used or used up • Disposable diapers make baby clean up very easy.

  13. Adorable • very attractive or delightful; charming • Baby polar bears are so adorable!

  14. Removable • that may be removed • These cool Sponge Bob stickers are removable so I can put them on my window and then change them out for my Spiderman stickers.

  21. Salvageable • the act of saving anything from fire, danger, etc • The roller coaster was not salvageable after it was destroyed in the hurricane.

  22. Changeable • liable to change or to be changed • She has many hairstyles that are changeable just by using a round brush.

  23. Rechargeable • capable of being charged repeatedly • Rechargeable batteries may cost more but you always have batteries when you need them.

  24. Traceable • capable of being traced • All of your e-mails on the computer are traceable even if you delete them.
