  2. Halal Certification is become a norm in most Arab countries

  3. Halal refers to lawful or permitted as per the Islamic Sharia law. In the UAE, halal certification especially among the food related industries is inspected upon. Companies dealing with food follow the halal way to slaughter animals and objects to the non Islamic way of stunning animals. Alongside, food containing pork bits and alcohol are banned according to Islamic law. In Arabic, the word Halal means “permissible”.

Certain guidelines are followed when the animal is slaughtered according to halal norms. *During slaughter the name of Allah should be called upon *The instrument used should be sharp and the animal should be slit at the throat *The animal should be live and not unconscious *It is mandatory that the blood should be drained from the animal. For this,the animal will need to be hung upside down *It is important that the slaughter should be performed by a devout Muslim who will recite a dedication. *The animal should have been fed on a natural diet excluding animal by products

The latest studies as per the Global Islamic Economy Report goes on to say that worldwide spending on global halal food and lifestyle products could rise 10.8% per year until 2019 which could raise its value to USD 3.7 trillion in the ranks of an international industry. It is interesting to note that the lucrative halal tourism market represents 11.6% of the global tourism expenditure. UAE stands as the international centre for halal food trading which is rapidly advancing. This explains the reason for several halal certification companies in the country.

This is as a result of the decision made by the Ruler of Dubai-His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on plans to make Dubai the capital of the halal economy.
