  2. Introduction to AIAA • AIAA? • American Institute of Aeronautics/ Astronautics • Mission? • To advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aerospace • What are we? • A professional society of 30,000 members • The largest group of aerospace engineers and scientists in the world

  3. Aerospace Terminology • Aerospace: • Industry involved with all phases of R & D of Aeronautics & Astronautics • Aeronautical engineering: • Engineers work specifically with aircraft. • Astronautical engineering: • Engineers work specifically with spacecraft.

  4. EE Majors • Avionics: • Application of Electronics to guidance/ navigation/ instrumentation & control of aircraft or spacecraft • One possible path (Alicia’s): • B.S.in EE, EE option: Thermo & Intro to ME • Electives in control systems • IEEE Robotics team
