  9. DMS Product Score Card • Appeared to be no silver bullet. • Demonstrations revealed areas that did not meet our requirements on one platform or the other. • Cost had to become a consideration as well. • Several products provided more functionality than any of our current products, including SMS

  10. Recommendation is Kace Kbox 1200 • It is an appliance -- – And it just simply worked… As close to the “silver bullet” as we can get • Free BSD OS with a mySql database • Met most of SNL’s criteria for all platforms • Met CSUSP criteria for management and backup and recovery of the box • Technical support demonstrated quick response to meet SNL requirements • DBAs will provide support for NWIS integration with Kbox

  11. Kace/Kbox Business Info • Founded February 2003 Headquarters in Mountain View CA • Co-founders: • Rob Meinhardt, Chief Executive Officer • Marty Kacin, President and Chief Technology Officer • Investors include • Sigma Partners – Pete Solvik, former Cisco CIO • Norwest Venture Partners – Bob Abbott, Initial Investor in Tivoli

  13. Kbox and SNL • Scalability • Kace QA performed load testing on 20,000 nodes successfully • Can not test the load at SNL. Will communicate with companies of similar size • Virtual Severs • Allow report roll ups
