Did you know? Carnes is a federally funded school-wide Title I school. Title I is a part of the No Child Left Behind Law. Title I requires that schools create a positive and supportive learning environment that results in high levels of achievement for all students.

AYP Status (Adequate Yearly Progress) Qualifications • Required % of 3rd – 5th grade students ‘Proficient’ or ‘Advanced’, including subgroups 89 % Reading/LA 86 % Math • At least 95% in attendance for TCAP Testing • Daily Attendance Rate at least 95%
AYP Status (Adequate Yearly Progress) Carnes Elem. has met or exceeded all of the requirements under “No Child Left Behind”. • 95% Proficient in Reading • 90% Proficient in Math • 100% Tested • 96% Average Daily Attendance
AYP Status (Adequate Yearly Progress) Carnes Elementary has achieved “GOOD STANDING” Status for ‘Five’ consecutive years.
School Improvement Plan • Analysis of data from TCAP tests, School climate surveys, etc. • Development of an action plan in order to address and meet the needs of our students, parents, and teachers • Creation of a Professional Development Plan for teachers and parents • Plan submitted in April 2008.
Teacher Qualifications Parents Right to Know All parents have the right to request the following: • A teacher’s professional qualifications • Type of degree or teaching experience • A paraprofessional’s qualifications
Parents Rights • Receive information on child’s achievement level • Right to transfer to another school if a victim of a violent crime • Right to public school choice and supplemental services if child’s school is identified for school improvement • Right to be informed if child is being taught by a teacher who is not highly qualified 20 days or more
School/Parent Compact • Jointly developed with parents to promote positive and productive working relationships • Parent, Student, Teacher, School agreement • Handbook, p. 7
Student Code of Conduct • MCS Chart informing parents & students of expectations for a safe and orderly school environment, without disruptions to the learning process • The range of possible disciplinary options when a student engages in a particular behavior or action
