Eligibility for Federal Funding • Roadways eligible for Federal-aid funding: • Publicly owned and open to public • Functionally classified higher than rural minor collectors or local roadways • Meet the requirements of the specific Federal funding program
Match Requirements • Most federal funds require non-federal funds as match, these funds can come from several sources: • Cash • Check • Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) • Irrevocable letter of credit • Donations (must obtain prior approval in order to qualify) • Cash • Materials • Services • Real Property (Six Point Criteria) • At the end of a project phase, any unused match funds are returned
How Reimbursement Works Actions Time
State Funding & Special Programs • Fund Exchange • Trading in federal dollars for state dollars • Special City Allotment • Competitive annual grant program funded with $1M state highway funds: $50,000 /project • For use upon city streets that are within cities with populations of 5,000 or less • Free Bridge Design • For the ten counties with the lowest dedicated road funding
