CCP03 Background • History • Mainframe applications supporting DRIS function have proven reliability and performance to support decennial activities • Future systems architecture will leverage Oracle RDBMS in places where mainframe computing has been used • Initial efforts to convert specific business functions to Oracle have failed to provide required performance, and have negative implications to adoption strategy for new technology • CCP03 chartered to conduct POC on specific functions (NRFU) in support of Oracle adoption effort for DRIS team

CCP03 Completed Efforts System/Application Study • Evaluate Existing/Initial Implementation on Oracle • Determine performance drivers on initial development platform • Evaluate Physical Design as Initially Deployed • Migrate Specific Functions to Enterprise RDBMS Platform (UC&M and UECT) • Load data • Validate • Performance tuning

CCP03 Completed Efforts Functions • Build UC&M data application • Update Logical Data model for use on RDBMS • Create Physical Data Model (DDL creation) • Deploy to both old and new Oracle platforms • Execute performance comparisons between platforms • UECT creation from UC&M • Update Data model and create DDL • Data extract based on State • UECT Validation/Compare • Partitioning approaches • Full data extract for 2000 (state level) • Simulate for 2008 run (LCO level) • Execute performance comparisons between platforms

  5. CCP03 Ongoing Efforts • Create RPS Processes • Analysis and design • Update Data model and create DDL • Study Functions and create extracts • Execute performance comparisons between platforms

Major Tasks for RPS… • Data Conversion • Census 2000 T13 data to Universal Response Database Schema • Post external interface data import and processing • Preceding data to be used to refine the RPS table design • URdbS response data tables will be further utilized as input to derive processing component metrics. • Performance and tuning will be done for RPS applications.
