What is a Reference Page? • APA Manual 6th Edition – 6.22 – 6.32 (Reference List) • Sample Reference Page – Figure 2.3 • The reference list follows the text of the document and contains detailed information on each of the references (citations) contained in the text of the papers. • Reference lists should be complete and accurate, enabling others to retrieve and use the sources cited.
Formatting a Reference Page • Each entry contains: author, year, title, and publication information • See APA manual, Chapter 7, for formatting specific types of references (books, journals, etc.) • Double space • Hanging indentation (indent second line) • Arrange entries in alphabetical order • Pay special attention to rules for online references and the use of the DOI • Do not include citations for personal communications in the reference list
