1. Gas Laws Review Know how to do the problems.
Understand the concepts.
3. Why does an aerosol can get cooler when sprayed? (What gas law explains it?) As gas is released from the container, the pressure goes down. Since pressure is directly proportional to temperature, the T also drops (Gay-Lussac’s Law).
5. Charles’ Law
6. Boyle’s Law
7. Gay-Lussac’s Law
8. How does the “handboiler” work? Which gas law explains it?
10. How does this work? Use gas law concepts to explain it. When the bird’s beak is wet, water will begin to evaporate, cooling the top. At the gas is cooled, the pressure decreases (Gay-Lussac’s Law). This allows more liquid to be pushed up the tube. Eventually, this causes the head to tip forward again and dip into the water. With the change in angle, air is allowed to go back up the tube, increasing the pressure again. Now that the beak is wet again, the entire process starts all over again.
19. Why does a helium balloon deflate faster than one filled with air?
