  1. Self-regulating system to maintain water flow in gutters and downpipes

  2. The problem • Raychem solution • Features and benefits

  3. Heat from the sun and the buildingmelt the snow on the roof which refreezes Roofs and gutters Down spouts and drain lines Flat roofs Metal roofs Melted snow refreezes

  4. Risk for damage and safety hazard • Gutter damage due to weight of ice • Structural damage due to ingress of water • Roof damage due to refreezing • Safety hazard from icicle formation

  5. The problem • Damage and safety hazard due to refreezing water • Raychem solution • Features and benefits

  6. The solution: keep the water flowing The Raychem self-regulating system provides a path whereby melting ice and snow can drain safely • off the roof • along the gutter • down the drain pipe.

  7. Self-regulating system to maintain water flow in gutters and downpipes 1 1. Power connection 2. Heating cable 3. Support bracket for drain pipes 4. End seal 5. Control unit or thermostat (optional) 6. Moisture sensor 7. Temperature sensor 6 7 3 2 5 4

  8. Two different systems • The advanced system • GM-2X heating cable and 8BTV-2-CT heating cable (bitumen) • RayClic quick connection system • EMDR-10 control unit • The basic system • Heating cables: FroStop Black • Heat-shrink connection system • HTS-D thermostat or EMDR-10

  9. Gutter Frost protection sales channels

  10. A reliable, self-regulating heating cable 1. Large copper conductors 2. Self-regulating conductive core 3. Modified polyolefin insulation 4. Tinned copper braid for added protection 5. U.V. resistant modified polyolefin outer jacket 2 3 4 5 1

  11. The self-regulating effect provides energy savings W/m 1. Heating cable in snow at high power 2. Snow melts and drains away heating cable in dry air at half power 3. Then heating cable self-regulates in dry air °C

  12. Economical to operate • Self-regulating effect saves energy • Adjusts to varying conditions on the same roof

  13. RayClic connections foreasy and fast installation 3. close cover 1. insert sheathedcable with Clip 2. tighten screws till they are flush with surface 4. tighten gland nuts firmly

  14. A connection module for each configuration Heating cable T-connection with power cable Heating cable connection to power cable Heating cable splice with power cable Heating cable splice Heating cable T-connection Heating cable 4-way connection

  15. The EMDR-10 control unit operates on temperature and moisture sensing • Combined temperature and moisture sensing • Temperature sensor de-activates the system at • High temperatures • Very low temperatures (no melting) • Moisture sensor de-activates the system when there is no moisture • No moisture = no melt water = no risks for leaks

  16. How the EMDR-10 works? • Air temperature is lower than the set-point • Moisture measurement is activated after 10 minutes • If moisture is present, the heating cable is switched on • Heating cable is switched off when: • Air temperature raises above set-point OR • Moisture is lower than set-pointOR • Air temperature is lower than the set ‚minimum‘ temperature.

  17. More features of the EMDR-10 control unit • Easy access for wiring the unit • All parameters settable on front panel • Switching capacity up to 10 A • Visibility on the different alarms by flashing of LED’s • An alarm relay output • Increased protection by an easy accesable fuse

  18. The simple HTS-D thermostatfor small installations • On/off • Depending on min / max temperature (controllable between -15°C/ +15°C) • For lengths below 30 m

  19. The problem • Damage and safety hazard due to refreezing water • Raychem solution • A complete frost protection system for gutters • Features and benefits

  20. Self-regulating cable Saves energy: adjusts its heat output Practical can be cut-to-length and closely spaced for all roof materials Connection system Easy & Fast one component mechanical connection Reliable: control indicator to avoid faulty installation The smart Raychem system + + • Controls • More energy savings • Easy set-up and operation: • Fast wiring • Clear visual interface

  21. The problem • Damage and safetyhazard due to refreezing water • Raychem solution • A complete frost protection system for gutters • Features and benefits • The Raychem system is practical and allows for energy savings Thank you for your attention daryossi@netvision.net.il www.tycothermalcontrol.com Smart heat for comfort and safety
