Madam Englantye (The Prioress) • Direct Characterization: • Her smile is very simple and coy • She speaks in French • School of Stratford • Pleasant & friendly in her ways • Her nose was elegant, her eyes glassgrey • Her mouth very small, but soft and red • Dresses well • Indirect characterization: • Her forehead was fair of almost a spam across the brows • Her sympathies and tender feelings; she was so charitably solicitous • She would wipe her upper lip so clean • What would she be doing today? • - She would be the head master of the Prioress and rule everything! Monk (priest) • Direct Characterization: • Hunting was his sport • A manly man • tough guy, lets go of things from yesterday • good to his gorse • His horse was brown • He is large, loud, and well clad in hunting boots and furs • Indirect Characterization: • Was he to study till his head went round • He was a flat and personable priest • What would he be doing today? • As for the Monk, he would be too tired to keep hunting, he might just hire someone to hunt for him because he would be rich from all the hunting he has been doing throughout his life. Scope • Direct Characterization: • Had a special license from the pope • Easy man in penance-giving • He could hope to make a descent living • He can not weep • He dang well and played the hurdy-gurdy • He was champion of the hour • His neck was whiter than a lily-flower • Indirect Characterization: • Kept his tippers stuffed with pins for curls • He is strong enough to butt a bruiser down • What would he be doing today? • He would be a heartless man with no job, and no future to support. He was no longer the champion because his personality got him no where and made him lose everything. JassimHamad
Eminent • Direct Characterization: • Man that is struggling in his dignity • A person that is good in begging • He doesn’t attack people to give him money • Indirect Characterization: • He can get profit from anywhere, but he is low in service. • He is humble and his begging is light • What would he be doing today? • - He would lose all his money, live most of his remaining days begging people for attention, money, care and everything he couldn’t have. Conclusion Every character is unique in their own way. They will eventually change as a person, and as in what they would be doing today. As for the Monk, he would be too tired to keep hunting, he might just hire someone to hunt for him because he would be rich. Madam Eglantine would still have her two dogs. She would speak French in a sweet manners. She would also still be the sweet, loving, sensitive person she is. She will rule the Prioress. The Scope will lose his job and be hated by so many people because of his bad personality, he will no longer be the champion. He will no longer have the special license from the pope.Eminent will still be begging people for attention, money, care and everything he couldn’t have. He doesn’t have a job either . The Canterbury Tales is a book of stories written by Geoffrey Chaucer in the14th century. The book is about a group ofpilgrims traveling from LondontoCanterbury. As they travel along, each person tells a story to pass the time.
