Lake Orion Update • Teacher evaluation committee established last year charged with bringing LO into compliance. • Committee members: • Margaret Hazlett-Co-Chair • Heather Olsen-Co-Chair • Darin Abbasse • Dave Stafford • Heather Orlowsky • Heidi Kast • Jared Wood • Jennifer Goethals • Jesse Baker • Jessica Russell • Linda Glowaz • Liz Morgan • Wendy Burns

  4. While we must comply, there are questions that do not have definite answers and there continues to be additional changes. We cannot control legislation but we can control our approach.

  5. We must work together and remain flexible and patient. • We are all in this together and the purpose is quite simple: to implement a process that allows all LOEA staff to grow and develop to be their best for the result of maximum achievement for every student.

  6. Non-Tenured Overview • 3 Components: • Individual development plan (IDP) • Formal classroom observations • 3 for first year • 2 for years two-four • Annual student growth plan

  7. Student Growth Plan • The educator in collaboration with the administrator shall create a goal for student achievement, striving to ensure “one year’s growth for one academic year.” In addition, student growth measures will be identified to measure the goal.

Student Growth Plan • Goal • Aligned with vision of one year’s growth for one academic year • Growth Measures (3) • 1 identified at District level based on State and/or National measure when applicable, common assessment when not applicable • 2 identified collaboratively by educator and administrator

  10. Student Growth Plan • Goal Example: Each student will achieve a year’s worth of growth in reading. • Student Growth Measures Example: • DRA • AIMSweb • MEAP

  11. Important to Understand • This is NOT the final product for our teacher performance evaluation. We will need to make further changes as legislation becomes finalized. • The committee will remain and will address changes as necessary to ensure we are in compliance.
