  2. 2 APPROACH Edward Anthony (1963) An approach is a set of assumptions dealing with the nature of language, learning, and teaching 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

  3. 3 Harmer (2001:78) This refers to theories about the nature of language and language learning that serve as the source of practices and principles in language teaching.   6. 6 METHODS A method is a practical realization of an approach. It is about types of activities, roles of teachers and learners, and the kinds of materials 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

  7. 7 Edward Anthony (1963) Method is described as an overall plan for systematic presentation of language based upon selected approach. Techniques are the specific activities manifested in the classroom that are consistent with a method and therefore are in harmony with an approach as well 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

  9. 9 TECHNIQUE A common technique when using video material is called silent viewing. This is when the teacher plays video with no sound. Silent viewing is a single activity rather than a sequence. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
