  1. Making a Difference Wiersbe - 10 Power Principles for Christian Service Chapter 9 – The Power of Ministry Is the Holy Spirit (The following presentation consists of quotations from the text of this book, which you have purchased)

  2. A. W. Tozier on the Holy Spirit “If God were to take the Holy Spirit out of this world, most of what the church is doing would go right on and nobody would know the difference.”

  3. This is the text that Evangelist Billy Sunday always had open before him regardless of what text he preached from: “The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;” (Isa 61:1-2 AV)

  4. Pastor D. L. Moody referred to the change in his preaching by the filling or empowerment of the Holy Spirit: “I cannot describe it, I seldom refer to it; it is almost woo sacred an experience to name…I went to preaching again. The sermons were not different; I did not present any new truths, yet hundreds were converted.”

  5. Pastor D. L. Moody: “God commands us to be filled with the Spirit, and if we are not filled, it is because we are living beneath our privileges.”

  6. Real or Counterfeit? Either God is accomplishing his will in and through us by his Spirit, or we’re doing our own thing in our own way and passing it off as the work of God.

  7. A. W. Tozier: “The Spirit-filled life is not a special edition of Christianity. It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people.”

  8. …There can be no place for deception in the life of a Spirit-filled believer.

  9. Our inability vs. God’s ability… “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10 AV) (underline for emphasis)

  10. Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones “ We all tend to go to extremes; some rely only on their own preparation and look for nothing more; others, as I say, tend to despise preparation and trust to the unction, the anointing and the inspiration of the Spirit alone. But there must be no “either/or” here; it is always “both/and.” These two things must go together.”

  11. Dr. G. Campbell Morgan “ We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.”

  12. “I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:5 AV) (bold underline for emphasis)
