AWRA History • History: An employee of the Illinois State Water Survey (Sandor Csallany) applied to the secretary of State of Illinois to reserve the name American Water Resources Association in 1963. • AWRA Motto (3C): - Community - Conversation - Connections AWRA was born in 1964!

Membership is about equally divided between academics, governmental employees at all levels, & the private sector.

AWRA Publications(continued) JAWRA is the Journal of the American Water Resources Association. It is a peer reviewed, refereed scientific journal that features current water resources issues, innovative technology & relevant research. Water Resources IMPACT is AWRA’s bi-monthly magazine featuring practical solutions to current water resource issues.
Meetings & Conferences (continued) Conferences are organized by AWRA State Sections or AWRA Technical Committees. In addition, AWRA may organize specialty meetings, such as the National Water Resources Policy Dialogue held September 17-18, 2002 in Washington, D.C.
