  2. What is it? • Washington's Birthday, also known as Presidents' Day, is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of February. The day honors presidents of the United States, including George Washington, the USA's first president.

  3. What do people do? • Washington's Birthday officially honors the life and work of George Washington, the first president of the United States. The day commemorates past presidents of the USA. Washington's Birthday is sometimes known as Presidents' Day. This is because while most states have adopted Washington's Birthday, some states officially celebrate Presidents' Day. • Some states pay particular attention to Abraham Lincoln, as his birthday was also in mid-February. In the weeks or days leading up to the holiday, schools often organize events and lessons for students about the presidents of the United States and George Washington in particular. It is a popular day for stores to start their sales.

  11. Trivia Facts about Lincoln • Lincoln was the tallest president. Artist Francis B. Carpenter measured Lincoln's height in the White House. He measured six feet three and three-quarter inches in his stocking feet. Most sources round it off to 6 feet 4 inches. Lincoln's average weight was 180 pounds. • Lincoln's hat size was 7 1/8. His shoe size is normally listed as between 12 and 14. • Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated. • He was the first president to have a beard. • Lincoln was fond of pets, and owned horses, cats, dogs and a turkey • Abraham never once was photographed with his wife Mary. • Abraham Lincoln had no middle name. He was simply (and legally) just Abraham Lincoln his entire life. • Sometimes Abraham Lincoln's stovepipe hat was called was his "desk and memorandum book" and also sometimes his "filing cabinet". This was because he kept mail, his bankbook, important papers, etc.in it.
