  1. Staff Position2007-2008 Lorene Nakamura (503) 947-5831 Lorene.Nakamura@state.or.us

  2. Changes • The V-tel for Staff Position (and Class Size) has been rescheduled for: • January 28, 2008 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. • Staff Position (and Class Size) • Opens - February 4, 2008 • Closes - March 28, 2008

  3. Revised Requirements for 2007-2008 • Only staff actively employed on January 15, 2008 will be reported. • Staff who were employed prior to January 15, 2008 but have since left, will not be reported. • Staff who were employed the prior year (2006-2007) but are not currently employed, will not be reported. However, they may be optionally reported if removing them would be an inconvenience.

  4. Revised Requirements for 2007-2008 • The field previously labeled as “Quit Code” is now referred to as “Employment Status Code”. • For the 2007-2008 collection, this code will be either “00” or “06” (unless you are choosing to report staff who were employed in 2006-2007 but did not return). • “00” - staff actively employed on January 15, 2008. • “06” for staff that are still employees of the district but are on leave for the entire year (i.e. Medical, Family, Military, Sabbatical, etc.)

  5. Number of Assigned Institutions Threshold • If a District or ESD staff member works at 5 institutions or less, then there will be individual records for their time at each school. • If a District or ESD staff member works at more than 5 institutions, then all the staff member's time will be reported with the assigned institution ID of the District to which they were assigned.

  6. Number of Assigned Institutions Threshold Examples • Tom is a special education occupational therapist who is employed by West Coast ESD. Emerald SD contracts with West Coast ESD for his services. All of his time is split between ten schools that are all part of Emerald SD. In this case, because he is performing services at more than 5 institutions, he would have one record and his assigned institution would be the institution ID of Emerald SD. • **NOTE: The Employer Institution ID (EmplyrInstID) in the USID collection for this staff member would be the Institution ID for West Coast ESD

  7. Number of Assigned Institutions Threshold Examples • Joseph is a full time speech pathologist who is employed by West Coast ESD. He works equally at 3 schools in Emerald SD and 3 schools in Johnson SD. Because he is performing services at more than 5 institutions, all his time would be reported at the District level. He would have two records- one with .5 FTE with the assigned institution ID of Emerald SD and the other with .5 FTE with the assigned institution ID of Johnson SD. • **NOTE: The Employer Institution ID (EmplyrInstID) in the USID collection for this staff member would be the Institution ID for West Coast ESD

  8. Revised Directions • Revised Directions for Staff Position will be posted the afternoon of January 8, 2008 at https://district.ode.state.or.us/apps/info/docs/StaffPositionDirections.doc • Unique Scenarios were added to the end of the document to assist in problem solving. • The directions will be updated with additional scenarios while the collection is open in order to clarify difficult situations.

  9. Potential Future Reports • Using the data we already collect, what types of reports would you be interested in seeing? • What additional data fields would you like to see added to support future reports?

  10. Data Quality • What will be done this year by ODE to help improve data quality • ODE will be monitoring the collection while it is open and contacting districts immediately if there are potential issues. • What districts can do to help • When you believe you are finished submitting, please send an email to Lorene so she can begin checking your data.

  11. Data Quality • What else could ODE do to help improve data quality?
