  1. The Mushroom Grow Kit By: Quinn Silva

  2. THE KIT! Here is this first mushroom kit ever purchased in the history of Greengineering! I purchased this one from Whole Foods and started it on Friday 3/16/2012. I also purchased a second one for my Mycelium students to start in class on Monday 3/19/2012.

  3. The Myceliated Bag Inside the box was this bag of Myceliated recycled coffee grounds. Hopefully this is what our containers will look like once the Mycelium team is able to inoculate a substrate (sawdust, or some other organic material).

  4. First Step The first step was to fill a container with cool tap water and put aside.

  5. Second Step: Once your container of water is filled, the next step is to cut a plus sign; or visually an “ + “ into the bag.

  6. Third Step: Now that the bag has been cut, and the container of water is ready, place the bag into the water.

  7. Fourth Step: The bag will float. To ensure that the bag stays completely submerged place something with weight on top of it. Here you can see I chose a 2 liter soda bottle I had in the recycling bin.

  8. Fifth Step: After 24 hours the bag is removed from the water, wiped down and placed back in the mushroom kit box (there is a dotted outline of a panel on the front of the box that is to be removed. Now you just have to spray the “ + “ with water twice a day and wait for your glorious oyster mushrooms to grow!
