st issue of Republicans • Education: Promotes school choice, home schooling, and higher education
nd Issue of Republicans • Foreign Policy: The Republican platform calls for the development and deployment of both national and theater missile-defense systems. These incredibly expensive weapons systems, which are unlikely to work in any case, violate arms-control agreements signed and ratified under the Nixon administration. • Also disturbing is the platform's classification of immigration as a national security issue, which has serious ramifications in terms of the nature of legislation and enforcement. It also claims that warrantless wiretapping of American citizens is "vital" to America's national security.
rd Issue of Republicans • Taxes: Keep taxes the same and not raise them, double child tax exemption, and double personal tax exemption for every dependent,
th Issue of Republicans • Energy: Lower gasoline prices, more clean energy, energy efficiency, unlock domestic energy
th Issue of Republicans • Health Care: Mandatory universal coverage in first term. Tax credits for working families to make insurance more affordable
th Issue of Republicans • Gun Control: Voted for ban on assault-type weapons and to require background checks at gun shows. Favored leaving gun-makers and dealers open to civil suits
