SWIMMING NZ REVIEWBackground • A Working Group was established to undertake the Review of Swimming New Zealand (SNZ). • The Working Group found SNZ lacking in clarity of purpose and short on the fundamentals needed to support the growth and development of what should be a very strong sport in New Zealand. • In order for Swimming to move forward in New Zealand, the Working Group has recommended changes all to be implemented and not ‘cherry picked’ by the sport.
SWIMMING NZ REVIEWRecommendations • SNZ’s core focus becomes competitive swimming • ‘Teach the Teachers’ function is transferred out of SNZ, but clubs remain delivering ‘Learn to Swim’ if they wish • A new SNZ Board composition & appointment process • A redefined CEO role • Constitutional voting be based on competitive • Regions reduce in number – to be managed by the Regions themselves • New Competition zones • The sport fully supports & agrees to participate with the Board in the development of a ‘whole of sport’ strategic plan • A comprehensive database is developed and used by the sport • The sport collectively commits to building a culture of trust collaboration & discipline in its’ processes and systems
