Housing Demand Projections, Virginia • From 2000-2010, total households projected to increase by 412,500 • From 2010-2020, total households projected to increase by339,000 • Low-Income Housing Needs Increasing • Households with incomes below $20,000 projected to increase by 94,700 for 2000-2010 and • by 104,200 for 2010-2020 • Incomes from $20k-$30k increase by 47,000 and 43,100 households • Incomes from $30k-$50k increase by 80,800 and 63,900 households Affordable Housing Demand • Statewide Affordable Rental Housing Gap, 2000 • 104,000 unit affordable rental housing gap in 2000, primarily at <30%MFI level • Almost entirely due to occupancy of units affordable at 30%MFI, 50%MFI, and 80%MFI • by households with incomes above these levels (in 2000 $)
