  3. ARC 528 Grading Policy Grades will be based on: Attendance and Participation 10% Semester Assignments 10% Final Exam 30% Computer Laboratory Exercises 15% Final Project 35% Excel Database 15% Web-based Data Display 20%

  4. Fix Excel Spreadsheets Good data in, good data out. The survey result – excel spreadsheet needs to be cleaned up after the survey has been completed. It is an extremely important step to guarantee the searchable functions of the final web-based database. Please be noted that you must follow every steps below to go over each column in your excel spreadsheet. Failure to comply with instructions of any of the steps below will result in forfeiting all grades of this assignment.

  5. “Recorder”: input “Your name” “Date”: input in a format of “mm/dd/yyyy” “Type of Resource”: choose “Building” “Resource Name”: i.e. “Villa Majorca”, if no, use the address of the property instead “Address”: from property appraiser “Neighborhood”: leave blank “City”: input “Coral Gables” “Tax Assessors Folio #”: from property appraiser

  6. Change the following column titles and fill in information as the example shown below: “Legal Description” to “Subdivision Name” “Legal Description 2” to “Block” “Legal Description 3” to “Lot” “Zoning” to “Allowed Zoning Uses” “Zoning 2” to “Designation Status” “Zoning 3” to “Source of Information” For example, 1706 SALZEDO ST has following “Property Information” and “Legal Description” from Miami Property Appraiser website.

  7. “Orientation”: Make sure you’re using “N S E W” instead of “North South East West”. For example, you should input “NE” instead of “Northeast”. Although they have the same meanings to human, but not machine! “Construction Year”: Sometimes the format of certain columns will be incorrect. For example, “1950” will be the correct one but it somehow shows “1950.00”. The reason is the format of excel column has been incorrectly modified. To fix the issue, select the column, right-click to “Format Cells”, and change the format to “Number” with the “Decimal places” as “0”.

  8. “Architect” “Builder” “Original Use” “Original Ownership”: research from City of Coral Gables Historic Resource Department “Current Use” “Current Ownership”: from property appraiser “Alternation/Additions”: from your research or appraiser “Number of Stories”: from your survey “Height”: this is a must have column since we need the data to create instant mass models. If you’re not able to find the building height data, use your estimated number based on the average floor heights “Character Defining Features”: from survey “Styles and Types”: must choose among “Art Deco, Shotgun, Shingle, Greek Revival, Moorish Revival, Frame Vernacular, Masonry Vernacular, Colonial Revival, Mediterranean Revival, Mediterranean Revival2, Monterrey, Bungalow, Mid-century Vernacular, and Other”
