What is ContactPoint? • The quick way to find out who else is working with the same child or young person, making it easier to deliver more coordinated support and improve outcomes for children. • It will be available to authorised staff who need it to do their jobs. • It will store very basic information for all children resident in England – no case information. • It will be a national system to enable a more complete record for a child who accesses services in more than one local area.

Who will have access? • All authorised practitioners in all partner agencies • WFA (Sept 07) estimated to be up to 5867 • To include workers from:- Education – Schools, Further Education Colleges • Health – Doctors, Nurses, Health Visitors etc • Mental Health • Police • Probation • Voluntary organisations • Connexions • CAFCASS • YOT • Youth Service • Social Care

All users will need to be… • Security checked - including enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance renewable every three years. • Independent Safeguarding Authority (was Vetting and Barring Council) will advise if a user is subject to conviction or caution. • Trained in: • Information Sharing • Safe and secure use of ContactPoint • Data Protection Act and Human Rights Act • There will be an audit trail and monitoring of usage

The ContactPoint programme in East Sussex began in 2003 as a trailblazer Pilot began in Eastbourne in 2004, rolled out across the authority in 2005 2350 people have access ContactPoint, 29% of those are health practitioners 140,000 individual children’s records held on the system 18 automated data feeds, including health information from: Child Health Records (GPs & HV) PIMS (SLT, CAMHS, FISS, CTS) Manual involvement input Trailblazers
