NO2/NOx in-stack ratio database • Tier 3 NO2 modeling requires specification of a NO2/NOx in-stack ratio for each source in the model domain • Current guidance allows for a default ratio of 0.5 • Likely too conservative for many applications • Existing sources can do testing to get this data, but… • Existing sources still need data for nearby sources • New sources need data from similar sources and for nearby sources • AQMG kicked off a data collection effort on Aug 30, 2012 to collect and distribute NO2 ISRs • Regional office is still responsible for approving any NO2 ISRs, we are just facilitating data availability U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

NO2/NOx in-stack ratio database • Database development • Input from Program, Regional, State and Local modelers, permit groups, and measurement groups • Information, data templates and data available on SCRAM http://www.epa.gov/scram001/no2_isr_database.htm • Data template • 43 requested entries, 33 are ”required” • Most entries are common for sources and sites, i.e., most is filled out once and copied for additional entries for the source • Request that individual test results are submitted rather than average results from multiple tests • Alpha database • Contains data supplied by regional offices for examination in database planning • Does not contain all the required entries (already received comments that there isn’t enough information in the alpha database, which is why we have extensive requirements for the official database) U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

NO2/NOx in-stack ratio database • Official database is empty – no data submissions yet • Main push is for data submission • Data can be submitted by anyone (RSL, contractors, facilities, consultants, equipment manufacturers) • Any permit currently submitting Tier 3 NO2 modeling should be submitting to the database • Encourage modelers to communicate the data request to permit groups • Potential issues with sampling • May not be part of normal NOx stack testing, depending on sampling methods applied • Additional calibrations for NO or NO2 needed in addition to NOx • Contact: Chris Owen, owen.chris@epa.gov for info • Available for Q&A calls for modeler, permit, etc., groups U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
