Sports Commissioner • Main function : • Regulate & enforce Sports Development Act 1997; • Registrar of Sports Bodies; • Supervise & monitor sports bodies; • Conduct capasity bulding program/ activities for sports bodies/ Star Rating*; *Star Rating: To measures the performance of national sports bodies according to Sports Development Act 1997; elements measured are NSA updated information, administration, financial, governance, etc

Volunteerism • Volunteers are the backbone of Kuala Lumpur 2017. To make a success, we need a rich and vibrant community of volunteers; • Under the purview of MASOC, chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sports • Open to ASEAN people, M’sian & Non – M’sian; • Ambassador of MASOC; • 13,000 recruited & assigned to sub-committee; • Registration via portal www.kualalumpur2017.com.my; • Required to attend two compulsory training – general & specific; • Given supports letter for unrecorded work leave, daily food allowance, Official volunteer attire, Certificate of participation, insurance, free public transportation, excluding accommodation.

Bidding Mega Sports Event: Malaysia Perspective International Sports Bodies Approval for hosting of international competition “No person shall offer or bid to host any international sports competition or event in Malaysia without the prior approval in writing of the Minister whose decision thereon shall be final” Bidding for hosting international sporting event/ competition requires Government Approval – Sports Development Act 1997 Amendment 2017
