  5. Description • To describe looks. Ella es alta y delgada. Él es bajo. • Occupation • To tell the profession or occupation. Arturo es ingeniero. Carlos es carpintero. • Characteristic • To describe the personality (the essence of a person). Sofia es simpática. Bruno es serio. • Time and date • To tell time and the date. Son las dos. Es la una y media. Hoy es jueves.

  6. Origin • To say where a person is from. Soy de Puerto Rico. Soy puertorriqueño. • Relation • To show the relation with family members. Es mi abuela. Soy su madre. Son misprimos.

  8. For Estar remember PLACE Position Location Action Condition Emotion • Position • To express the physical position or posture of things or people. Estoy parado(I’m standing up) Juan está sentado.

  9. Location • To express where people or things are located. El libro está en la mesa. Estoy en México. • Action • Used with the present progressive –ing. Estoy comiendo. Estánestudiando. Use the conjugation of estar and add –ando for ar verbs and –iendo for er or ir verbs. • Condition • To express health or other changeable states. La sopa está caliente. Estoy enfermo. Está sucio. • Emotion • To express emotions. Estoy contenta. Estamostristes. Estánenojados.
