His Personal Life Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5th 1930. Airplanes drew his attention at the age of six. He got his piloting license when he wasn’t even old enough to drive. He got it on his six-teenth birthday. He entered at Purdue University with a U.S. Navy scholarship.
His Family Neil Armstrong was the oldest of his two siblings. His siblings were Dean and June Armstrong. His parents were Viola Engel and Stephen Armstrong. He has been married twice. His first wife was Janet Elizabeth Shearon. She is the mother of his kids, Eric, Karen, and Mark Armstrong. However, Karen died at age two. He is currently married to Carol Held Knight, who he married in 1994.

His space past Neil Armstrong started his aeronautical engineering studies at Purdue University on his U.S. Navy scholarship. However his studies were interrupted when he was called to serve in the Korean war.
The War While Neil Armstrong was studying aeronautical engineering his studies were interrupted. He was called to serve in the Korean war. As a Navy pilot, Neil Armstrong Flew seventy-eight combat missions during this time. He left the service in 1952 to complete college.
Gemini Neil Armstrong’s first assignment was the Gemini 5. It was assigned to him 1965. He was the backup command pilot for this mission. In 1966 he was assigned to Gemini 8. He was the command pilot.
School Neil Armstrong’s elementary school was Gates Elementary School in Wapakoneta, Ohio. His high school was Blume High School. He got his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University. Neil also got his Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California

Apollo 11 Neil Armstrong was assigned to Apollo 11. The mission was to land on the moon. This was the first mission that people actually landed on the moon. There were about six more Apollo missions in which more people reached to moon from 1969 to 1972.
Landing on the moon Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon on the date of July 20th ,1969. The person who accompanied him in the mission who landed on were Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, jr. Neil Armstrong and the rest of the astronauts in the Apollo 11 mission landed safely in the Pacific Ocean on July 24th 1969.
