  3. “I don’t know you!” Some of the most tragic words that will ever he heard.

  4. Why so tragic? • (Mat 7:23 NKJV) "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

  5. Another statement of warning! • (2 Th 1:7-8 NKJV) and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, {8} in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  6. Where is Jesus?

  7. Where is Jesus? • He is on the outside of many “Christians” hearts and lives.

  8. Clearly He is on the Outside • (Rev 3:20 NKJV) "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

  9. Getting to know Him • (Rev 3:20 NKJV) “. . . I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” • Eating together is a way we get to know each other. • Clearly, God wants us to get acquainted with Him.

  10. Getting to know Him • How do we do that? • (John 8:31-32 NKJV) Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. {32} "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

  11. How do we get to know God? • (John 8:31 NKJV) "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.” • Clearly, it is important that we read and study the word of God. • Many around the world are worshipping in spite of severe persecution, and having great difficulty getting a Bible.

  12. Commune with God. • (1 Th 5:16 NKJV) Rejoice always,

  13. Commune with God. • (1 Th 5:17 NKJV) pray without ceasing,

  14. Commune with God. • (1 Th 5:18 NKJV) in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

  15. Commune with God. By reading His word. • (1 Tim 4:13 NKJV) Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

  16. Commune with God. By discussing His word. • (Deu 6:6-7 NKJV) "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. {7} "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

  17. Thanksgiving is Coming • Who is coming to your house?

  18. Who is coming? • Isn’t it usually those whom you know and love?

  21. Who is coming? • Isn’t it usually those whom you know and love? • How did you get to know them? • How do you keep loving them? • Is it possible to drift apart?

  22. What’s the basis of your home?

  23. What’s the basis of your home? • Isn’t it you and your spouse?

  24. What’s the basis of your home? • Isn’t it you and your spouse? • Isn’t this a Biblical idea?

  25. What’s the basis of your home? • Isn’t it you and your spouse? • Isn’t this a Biblical idea? • In Bible times, there was a great feast to consummate the marriage.

  26. What’s the basis of your home? • Isn’t it you and your spouse? • Isn’t this a Biblical idea? • In Bible times, there was a great feast to consummate the marriage. • Jesus used their knowledge of the wedding to talk about how things will be when He returns.

  27. The Virgins & the Marriage Feast • (Mat 25:1-13 NKJV) "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. {2} "Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. {3} "Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, {4} "but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. {5} "But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

  28. The Virgins & the Marriage Feast • (Mat 25:1-13 NKJV) {6} "And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' {7} "Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. {8} "And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' {9} "But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'

  29. The Virgins & the Marriage Feast • (Mat 25:1-13 NKJV) {10} "And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. {11} "Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' {12} "But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.' {13} "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

  30. “I don’t know you!” Some of the most tragic words that will ever he heard.

  31. Why so tragic? • (Mat 7:23 NKJV) "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

  32. So How are we to know Him?

  33. So How are we to know Him? (Phil 3:8-11 NKJV) Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ

  34. So How are we to know Him? (Phil 3:8-11 NKJV) {9} and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; {10} that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, {11} if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

  35. What is the Evidence?--That you know God • (Eph 5:8 NKJV) For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

  36. What is the Evidence? • (1 John 1:5-7 NKJV) This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. {6} If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. {7} But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

  37. What is the Evidence? • (1 John 2:4-5 NKJV) He who says, "I know Him,"and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. {5} But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

  38. “I don’t know you!” What is the alternative?

  39. Welcome Home • (Mat 25:21 NKJV) "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

  40. Which will it be for you and me?

  41. “I don’t know you!”

  42. “Well done, good and faithful servant; Enter into the joy of your lord.”

  43. Which will it be?

  44. I don’t know you!
